LAB 1

First browser is World Wide Web(WWW).It is created by a British scientist , named Tim Bernes-Lee when he was working at CERN.The web was invented to overcome the demand of sharing information between scientists in universities and institutes around the world.
First web server is CERN HTTPd. It was written by Tim Bernes-Lee. The first web page went live on August 6, 1991.  It was dedicated to information on the World Wide Web project. It function on a NeXT computer at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN.
The first URL is http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html. This link is no longer active.
First email is  ARPANET mail which was sent the across a network, initiating the use of the "@" sign to separate the names of the user and the user's machine in 1971, when he sent a message from one Digital Equipment Corporation DEC-10 computer to another DEC-10.
The first domain name ever registered on the Internet was “symbolics.com”. It was registered on March 15, 1985.
The first documented spam message was sent out to 393 recipients on ARPANET on May 3, 1978. The message was sent by Gary Thuerk.
The first mobile phone with Internet connectivity was the Nokia 9000 Communicator. It was launched in Finland back in 1996.
The first full-text web search engine (like the ones we have today) was WebCrawler, launched back in 1994.
New York Times Magazine called Justin Hall as founding father of personal blogging because he started web-based diary called Justin’s Links from the Underground in 1994.
The first item sold on the site (eBay) was a broken laser pointer for $14.83.
The first book sold on Amazon.com (which started its service in 1995) was a book by Douglas Hofstadter called Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought.
The first YouTube video was uploaded by YouTube cofounder Jawed Karim on April 23, 2005. It’s called “Me at the zoo” and is a video of him at the San Diego Zoo.
